Cars with manual transmissions come with many benefits. Which reason are you using as an excuse to buy one?
1. They are fun.
Lets be real, this is the only real reason manual cars even exist anymore in the US. In 2020, there are less than 40 models you can buy brand new that come with a stick.
2. You are in control
Have you ever driven a crappy automatic car? Waiting for it to “hunt” for the right gear is often frustrating and nerve wrecking if you are trying to speed up on the freeway ramp. Car with manual transmission will let you control which gear you’re in.
3. Cheaper to fix
These days, consumer automatic transmissions are not user-friendly. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most difficult, it would most likely be a 8-10 for a regular Joe to service. Most of the time you have to bring the car into a dealer or authorized shop to get something fixed.
4. Transferable knowledge
Car gears and motorcycle gear concepts are the same. Motorcycles have a linear gear shift lever while in a car, you can go from 5th to 3rd in one swift move. These concepts are quickly learned and transferred between the vehicles. In our experience, most motorcycle guys are car guys.
5. Anti-theft device
Considering that manual cars make up for a small fraction of cars in the US, car thefts may not have the skills to both break into your car and drive it away to a chop shop.
